Solar Ice Rink

The Solar Ice Rink at Panari is the only one of its kind in East and Central Africa. It measures 32 × 12 meters with an ice skating surface area of 15,000 square feet. It is totally enclosed with ice temperature at -25oC and the air temperature inside the hall is 12oC. The rink can accommodate 200 skaters at any time and is open seven days a week from 11.00 am until 10.00pm.

  • 9:00pm to 10:00pm


Skating rates have been kept very low i.e. Kshs.1000 for children up to 12 years and Kshs.1200 for all ages groups 13 years and older per 60 minutes inclusive of the skating boots. There are no commissions paid to agents. Tickets / receipts are issued only for single sessions and only 15 mins prior to skating sessions. Age verifications maybe required to authenticate children’s age. There are instructors on site to assist novices on basics only. Children learn the basic skills of the ice-skating quite fast.

It is advisable to reverse timings for groups in advance. The ice rink can only be blocked or closed out for private parties or functions with prior confirmation.

  • Customers must follow the instructions of the ice rink supervisors.
  • The use of the ice rink is strictly at the customers own risk.
  • All skaters must skate in one direction – anti clockwise.
  • Customers are urged to be considerate of the children and beginners to avoid collisions and accidents.
  • Children under 9 years must be in the company of an adult.
  • Children under 9 years ought to wear protective gloves.
  • Individuals are not allowed to enter the ice rink without skating boots.
  • To walk on skating boots outside the rubber tile areas is prohibited.
  • Customers are not allowed to take the skating boots outside the ice arena.
  • To vandalize the ice surface is not acceptable.
  • To throw objects and cigarette buts on the ice surface is not allowed.
  • Do not sit on the rink board walls.
  • To consume any food and beverage items inside the ice arena is prohibited.
  • Do not smoke inside the ice arena.

The management does not accept any responsibility for personal injury and the loss or damage of private property. The management reserves the right of admission.


At the Solar Ice Rink, our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment for skaters of all ages and abilities to learn and grow. Lessons are presented in concise levels with each one focusing on several skills that will be built upon in levels. After demonstrating mastery of the skills in one level, a student may proceed to the next.

Ice Hockey Lessons

This class offers an introduction to ice hockey and will allow the participant to get his/her balance. This level is designed to be fun and teach the basic skating and puck skills necessary to have a positive experience playing hockey. The lessons give young hockey players an opportunity to learn the game in a fun, relaxed environment and at their own speed.

General class information

Classes are within 20 days from the day of registration. Skaters should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start of their classes. We provide for skates only. Comfortable warm clothing, gloves, or mittens are recommended. Helmets can be worn if desired. Double blade skates are not permitted.
